In the late 1980s, Starck was approached by hotelier Ian Schraeger to design a line of furniture for a new project he was working on, the Royalton Hotel in New York City. This sofa was designed for the lobby. The sofa features curved front legs in polished cast aluminum, and legs of solid beech in reverse. The sofa has a solid steel frame with a thick foam pad.
